1) AAS 401: SENIOR SEMINAR IN ASIAN AND ASIAN AMERICAN STUDIES 


Tues and Thurs 11:30 am – 12:50 pm 1023 Humanities

A comparative study of the theoretical and methodological issues in Asian and Asian American Studies. For this fall semester, the class will focus on humanities approaches, paradigms and debates in area studies and ethnic studies after 1965.

2) AAS 328.01: RACE, COMEDY AND ASIAN AMERICA

Tues and Thurs 2:30 − 3:50 pm 1023 Humanities 

This comparative ethnic American cultures course examines how contemporary American comedians, fiction writers, musicians, visual artists, independent filmmakers, feminist and transgendered comics deploy the language of comedy to invoke serious social matters in contemporary American life such as racism, immigration, homophobia, class biases against the poor and the undocumented, misogyny, war and other burning issues of the day.
